The author has been asked “What does Log Parser do?” many times in the past couple of years. Every time this happens, he finds himself in real trouble trying to figure out how to describe this tool. Every time the author finds a sentence that tries to describe it, he later discovers that the sentence leaves out important facets of the tool, and doesn”t convey the real essence of its flexibility. Sure, this might be developer”s paranoia, but nonetheless, the author never feels totally satisfied with his answer. In this paper the author tells how it works, hoping that this will give an insight into what one can then do with it, and will show three of the most common applications of the tool.
